That same year, inspired by his passion for laboratory medicine and a commitment to serve his community, Lucas opened the doors of his first laboratory on Ermou Street, Larnaca.
As the laboratory’s reputation for accuracy and reliability grew, so did the need for a larger and more accessible space. In 1995, Konomou Laboratory moved to Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, a location chosen for its improved accessibility and ample parking, making it more convenient for patients and healthcare providers alike. This move also allowed for the introduction of new, advanced instruments, further enhancing the lab’s diagnostic capabilities.
The laboratory’s commitment to excellence was matched by its forward-thinking approach to growth. In September 2011, a new, state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated in Aradippou. In 2021, Lucas Konomou’s son, Peter Konomou, joined the family team, marking a significant milestone in the lab’s ongoing story. Peter graduated from the Biomedical Science department of the European University Cyprus, a program renowned for preparing professionals with strong laboratory skills, ethical standards, and expertise in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses and diseases. His academic background ensures that he brings the latest scientific knowledge and technical proficiency to the laboratory.
